Our team at Blue Illusion Beauty specializes in a range of different aesthetic treatments, and we offer this treatment for patients who want to improve the appearance of their cheeks. We have several practice locations which include San Diego, Carlsbad, and Murrieta, CA. We’re happy to provide some information to help you make the right choice for your needs.

Do Cheek Implants Look Natural?

We Take Your Goals Seriously

Our primary concern is working together with our patients to produce the effects they want. If you want results that look as natural as possible, we can absolutely work together with you on that. Cheek implants don’t have to make you look like a different person, they can be an excellent way to compliment and accentuate your natural beauty and face shape.

Results Are Controllable

Whether you’re looking for a minor boost, to proactively preserve your facial structure, or want more dramatic results, we have you covered. There are a range of implant sizes, just as there are a range of patients with different needs and goals.

You Have Options

We offer several facial implant options to help our patients enhance their facial features. Enhancing the cheeks is a popular treatment option, as is enhancing the jaw and chin. Implants can be used on their own, or they can be combined with surgeries such as a facelift, brow lift, eyelid surgery, or rhinoplasty.

Benefits of Facial Implants

No Hospital Stay

Cheek or jaw implants can be used to shape and contour the face. This can help your face better match your desired proportions, all without having to go through a lengthy hospital stay.

Safety

Any material used for facial implants will be biocompatible, so the body can readily accept it.

Discreet

The incisions are well hidden either inside the mouth or under your chin. Unless you tell them, your friends never have to know you received cheek implants.

Longevity

Depending on the material used and other individual factors, the results of this treatment can last decades, or even a lifetime. Implants are secured in place, so you don’t have to worry about migration.

If an implant is used instead of fat, the implant can also be removed. It’s very rare for a patient to desire that, but it can still offer peace of mind for patients as they’re considering implants.

Improved Positioning

After implants, your cheeks should look fuller and higher than they did before. This helps encourage a striking, timeless profile. Throughout history and across various cultures, it seems as though full, high cheekbones have been seen as both striking and desirable.

Facial Balance

The three primary facial “landmarks” are the nose, chin, and the cheeks. When one of these landmarks is out of proportion, it can affect the entire facial structure. Correcting shallow cheekbones can help the face as a whole portray a more balanced composition.

Correct Disproportionate Features

The right implant can help correct features that a patient may feel are disproportionate to the rest of their face. The patient may have features that are either smaller than desired, or they may have features that are more prominent than they’d like them to be. It’s amazing what the right implants can do when it comes to making various features throughout the face appear more proportional.

The skin of the face is fairly thin. Your underlying bone structure and muscles are more visible throughout your face than they are in many different areas of the body. That means if there’s any area of the face that is disproportionate, it affects the face as a whole. It also means that minor adjustments with tools such as facial implants are very effective in correcting these concerns.

It May Improve Bags Under the Eyes

Bags under the eyes are a common concern. Higher cheekbones can, in some cases, help “hold up” the skin around the eyes. This, in turn, may help reduce the appearance of under-eye bags by gently stretching out that skin.

Improve Self Confidence

By correcting facial proportion, many patients find they’ve been given a boost of confidence. It can be difficult to feel your best when there’s a part of your facial structure that you’re unhappy with. We want to help our patients achieve their aesthetic goals and be thrilled with their results.

Restore What’s Been Lost

While this treatment can be helpful for those who lack cheekbone definition, it can also help preserve the natural definition of your cheekbones. If you enjoyed full cheeks throughout your youth and now find them disappearing with age, we can help restore your cheekbones to their former glory.

FAQ About Cheek Implants

1. How Do I Pick the Right Size?

Choosing the proper implant size is crucial when it comes to your desired outcome, which is why our team is happy to use our expertise and help you make the right call. We’ll take a look at your facial structure and your goals. We will also be able to give you a clear idea of what you can expect from the process.

2. How Long Does It Take?

Generally speaking, you can expect each side of the face to take 15 minutes each, for a total of 30 minutes. This time may vary depending on the type of cheek implants you decide on, as well as individual factors. We’ll be able to give you a more accurate estimate after you’ve had a consultation with us.

3. Can Fillers Be Used as an Alternative?

Our team offers a range of different fillers for a range of different needs. Fillers can be a great way to help sculpt the face, increase confidence, and help restore a youthful fullness to the face. That said, if you’re specifically wanting to fill in your cheeks there are several ways implants may be the right choice.

Facial implants offer longer lasting results, so you don’t have to worry about your results gradually fading over time. Implants also provide more volume and structure. Depending on your needs, fillers could be a great option. However, if your cheeks are especially sunken, or you have very specific results in mind, implants may be the way to go. In the end, you can always try out fillers to see if they’re right for you.

4. Am I a Good Candidate?

If you’re in good health and want to improve the definition around your cheekbones or your mid facial area, this treatment could be a good fit for you. The best way to tell if you’re a good candidate is to come in for a consultation.

We can specifically go over your goals and walk you through the entire process and what to expect. We’ll also take a look at your health history and can talk you through alternative treatments if necessary.

Implants Can Work for a Variety of Facial Structures

Today there is such a range of cheek implant sizes and shapes that there should be a good fit for just about any type of facial structure.

If you have any doubts about how you’ll feel about your results, it might be a good idea to “test drive” with a filler injection before you fully commit to a facial implant. That way you can get a clear idea of whether you like the effect as much as you thought you would.

5. How Do I Tell if I Have Low or High Cheekbones?

Sometimes you can see your cheekbones easily, other times you may have to feel for them. One way to discover the position of your cheekbones is by putting your thumb over the tragus of your ear and placing your index finger at your nostrils. When you slowly bring your index finger and thumb together, you should be able to press down and feel your cheekbone.

With your fingers held in that position together, take a look at the mirror to see whether your cheekbone is positioned at the lower portion of your nose, or if it’s right under your eyes. If it’s closer to where the bridge of your nose starts, your cheekbones would be considered naturally high. Malar bones that are closer to the bottom of your nose would result in a naturally lower cheekbone structure.
